A Message from the Head of Primary
We are looking forward to welcoming parents to next week’s Parent Teacher Conferences. On Tuesday, 6th October, class teachers shared their sign-up sheets for families to book appointments. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to celebrate your child’s achievements, discuss their progress and identify areas for further development. They also provide an opportunity for parents and teachers to work together to support each child’s learning and wellbeing. Specialist teachers, including Spanish teachers, are also available for meetings upon request. If you would like to arrange an appointment with a specialist teacher, please contact them directly by email.
We warmly invite families to join us for our Early Years and Primary Day of the Dead/Halloween celebration on Friday, 23rd October on the school Patio. Parents are welcome to arrive from 8:15 am for a 9:00 am start. The morning will include year-group costume parades, poetry from our prefects and the announcement of our Student Council costume competition winners. Parents are also encouraged to dress up and join our teachers’ and parents’ parade! Two tickets per family will be available through our new ticketing system. Click here.
PASTORAL UPDATE
School photographs will take place from Monday, 7th September to Friday, 11th September. During the week, all students will have both an individual photograph and a whole-class photograph taken. Please ensure that your child comes to school in full school uniform on their scheduled day, including their green button-up school jacket. A small number of jackets will be available to borrow if needed.
Please check the class photograph schedule to confirm your child’s day. If your child is absent on their scheduled date, there will be additional opportunities later in the week for their individual photograph to be taken.

NOTES FOR THE YEAR GROUPS
Nursery
We had a fantastic week in Nursery! The children explored colour mixing by creating orange, built houses with lolly sticks, and drew their families. We also celebrated different cultures at our International Picnic and had lots of fun at the Monster Phonics Parade, singing, dancing and showing off our wonderful costumes. A week full of creativity, learning and fun!
Reception
The Reception children have had an exciting couple of weeks! They joined the Primary School Peace Day celebrations, brought their IEYC unit ‘This Is Me’ to an end with a fabulous Exit Point, and wrapped up their learning journey with a fun Monster Phonics Parade! We would like to thank our wonderful parent community for their support, organisation, and enthusiasm. The delicious picnic dishes and creative Monster Phonics costumes helped make these events truly special for the children!
Year 1
Year 1 have been learning how animals’ ears are different to ours in IPC. We experimented with extra large ears to experience how large ears can change the way we hear. In English we listened to We’re Going on a Bear Hunt from the bear’s point of view. We then met the bear and asked it many questions. In mathematics we have been learning about 2D shapes and we had a fantastic time at the Monster Phonics parade!
Year 2
The Year 2 children have been having a wonderful time with all the exciting school activities! They enthusiastically decorated a class leaf for our Peace Day tree and joyfully participated in the Monster Phonics parade. Additionally, they are becoming adventurous explorers, using Google Earth to discover islands around the world!
Year 3
After exploring and discussing the properties of a range of 3D shapes, the children constructed their own 3D models from nets. They then presented their shapes to their peers, using appropriate mathematical vocabulary to describe and explain their properties.
Year 4
As part of our ‘Island Life’ unit, the Year 4 classes have been learning about the importance of sources of fresh water. We created a booklet to show the different stages of the water cycle. Through this activity, the children learned more about why some islands can support life and why some cannot.
Year 5
This week, Year 5 became scientists as part of our crime investigation! After carrying out some background research into pH, the children tested the pH levels of different liquids and compared their results with the evidence found at the crime scene. Their findings helped them identify the mystery liquid and brought them one step closer to solving the crime from the Entry Point!
Year 6
Year 6 have been busy coming up with ideas for the science fair and baking biscuits. They decorated the beautiful biscuits after designing them in an art lesson. All the Year 6 pupils have been very resilient thinkers with our recent assessments. Well done to them!
Spanish/Social Studies
During the “What’s on the Menu?” unit in Social Studies, Year 3 students learned about the geographical origins of different fruits and the regions where they grow around the world. They planned their own fruit kebabs and brought their ideas to life during our Fruit Festival, a celebration filled with flavour, discovery and hands-on learning.
